(GOLDENDALE, Wash., March 6, 2009) – On Sunday, March 15 Maryhill Museum of Art, one of the region’s most unique cultural treasures, will re-open its doors for the 2009 season with the special exhibition Hudson River School Sojurn (March 15 - July 8). Opening day activities will include a talk with collector Dr. Michel Hersen as he shares his insights and passion for the Hudson River School and a gallery walk with curator Lee Musgrave. There will also be a free hands-on activity for children and a festive late-afternoon reception.
In addition to the museum's permanent collection, other special exhibitions on tap in 2009 include photographs by Ansel Adams (July 18 - September 13), outdoor sculpture by regional contemporary artists (May 16 - October 4) as well as selections from the museum’s own collections (September 26 - November 15).
The museum’s 2009 calendar is brimming with special programs and events for visitors of all ages. Almost every weekend there is something special happening at Maryhill – from Family Fun Days to the outdoor Maryhill Arts Festival, Fourth of July Celebration, Car is King Weekend and more. Maryhill Museum of Art is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 15 to November 15. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $2 for children age 6-16.
EXHIBITS AT MARYHILL
Permanent exhibits at Maryhill feature a large collection of works by Rodin, European and American paintings, objects d'art from the palaces of the Queen of Romania, Orthodox icons, a collection of unique chess sets, the renowned Théâtre de la Mode and an extensive Native American collection. During the 2009 season, the following temporary exhibits will also be on view:
